- Chock the wheels if necessary
- Inspect that air gauge(s) are working
- Inspect that air pressure builds to governor cutoff (approximately 120 – 140 psi)
“Before starting the engine I would make sure the bus does not move while in neutral and the parking brake is released. If it does I would chock the wheels.”
“I will now inspect that my air gauges and governor cutoff are working.”
{if necessary pump brakes until pressure below governor cut in}
“If The air gauges were not rising, indicating that the system is building pressure, I would pump the brakes until the gauges were below the cut in pressure. I will now continue to observe the gauges to assure the governor is working and cuts off at approximately 120 – 140 psi.“
{After governor cuts out turn engine off}
